An Analysis on the Study Trend of Art Therapy Programs for Children

Abstract
This study is to develop the study of child art therapy by proposing the result of analysis of domestic trend of child art therapy program and to enhance the efficiency when it is used for actual program in clinical environment. For the subject, the study analyzed 138 research papers related to child art analysis from 2004 to 2013, which were of [Art Therapy Study] and [Art Psychological Therapy Study] registered by National Research Foundation of Korea. The results are following. First, based on the years of studies, from 2005, the number of studies on child art therapy had been increased and the studies were progressed the most in 2009. Second, regarding the subject of the studies, the most studies were progressed with general subjects of disability type studies, development and learning disability studies accounted for the biggest part. About the number of the subject, studies with one subject were the most, and group studies had 5 to 10 subjects. Third, for the research method trend, most of the studies were mixed method, and research plan used single subject research, excluding individuals. Regarding the number of therapy, 16 to 20 times were the most for individuals, and 11 to 15, 16 to 20 times were the most for groups; for a week, both individuals and groups preferred once a week the most, and the duration of therapy were 41 to 50 and 61 to 90 for individuals and groups, respectively. Study length was 4 to 5 months for individuals and 2 to 3 months for groups. Fourth, for study content trend, studies handled emotion and behavior problems the most, and most studies measured with picture projected test and objective measuring tools. Most therapy used mixed method.
